Let’s start out with John Rocker. I know everyone has heard of this closer for the Atlanta Braves whose prolific statements has caused Americans to stand up for the rights of minority groups when in the shadow is a request for the Gay-Straight Clubs to be allowed to on schools. I see something strange, how can everyone bad mouth someone who made mistake, but go the next day and all hail the courts for not allowing high school students to meet about issues concerning their lives. First of all, I don’t agree with how John Rocker presented himself in Sports Illustrated, but then again, haven’t we all made that same statement about New York and even more the United States. From starting in school all I heard was the mixing pot of the world and even the Statue of Liberty is there to welcome all comers, but we are going to do what we are protesting, and bash against a group or in this case, one person. There’s nothing more minority than one person is. Sure he made a mistake, and everyone wants to take away his livelihood and the one thing he loves doing with comments to suspend or even ban him from baseball. Has there ever been anyone to never make a mistake at work? So now, the public opinion says, if you make a mistake, you should be banned from your livelihood. Sure, his statements are more known, but that doesn’t change the severity of any mistake or disparaging remark or act. We can have a former US Attorney General off in Iraq leading protest against the US, stating we have to ask repentance to God for what we have done. I guess we don’t hold political figures in account though, especially a potentially damaging circumstance that information could have been given to Iraq, by this political figure. On any case, the longer I live, the more I realize that there are a lot of dumb asses that want to take stands on one thing, ignore something else that tends to be more repulsive, and even lead protests that don’t even know what they are rallying for or against. I see a group of people in South Carolina wishing for the Confederate flag to be taken down with remarks of "Your heritage means my slavery." I guess we shouldn’t wave the American flag either, since it could represent the suppression of Chinese and Irish that didn’t have a civil war to rescue them. Wait a minute that was stupid. I should remember from history class that the Civil War, much less the Confederate flag, had nothing to do with slavery. In fact, if I dig a little deeper, I believe Abraham Lincoln actually had a policy of sending the African Americans back to Africa, and henceforth, never even signed the Emancipation Proclamation. Wow, what we would know if we spent more time reading, and less protesting. But, since everyone wants to be on some bandwagon, lets just burn down the museums, ban the use of cotton, and rename ourselves. Lets throw away every shred of history ever made, and forget all heritage. And if memory serves me right, didn’t African tribes enslave other tribes. Well, guess we better quit flying the flags of African nations, since each flag would mean someone’s heritage and someone else’s slavery. Or maybe start at the root; ban England’s flag since they brought the slaves to begin with. While we are at it, lets tear down the pyramids, and the Great Wall of China, and lets get rid of railroads, and mines and any other thing that could be construed as a symbol for slavery. Do you understand yet? A piece of cloth doesn’t stand for anything except what the Civil War was about, forming a separate nation. If people find the Confederate flag offensive, well think what the Native Americans feel about the rest of America. Now, going back to John Rocker, shouldn’t he be allowed to make living, or does everyone in America need to be fired for making a mistake. So you don’t ever make disparaging remarks about anyone or anything? No one has ever cussed the driver on the highway or a computer at work, or called a doctor, lawyer, or whatever a quake, or listened to jokes about groups of people, or even played cowboys and Indians when you were a kid. That’s what I thought. Everyone has expressed some sort of racist or prejudice remark, but that doesn’t make them a racist. I’ve made comments about my own race, so I guess I need a psyche evaluation and banned from work. I think not. There’s difference between anger and hatred, and hatred is what you have to fear. So, let’s all go ahead and leave John Rocker alone and let him live his life in peace like we all want. People are products of their environment, just have to give a little time for people to learn the ways of being politically correct. And, if you still are against Rocker, well why don’t you also help with the recognition of Gay-Straight Clubs in high schools, and help demolish all symbols and structures that may bring back bad memories of being enslaved(is there anyone that are old enough to have these memories?) and help the women that are being tortured for going to abortion clinics, or even support the most suppressed of all, the Native Americans. If you can’t support all of this, get off the bash Rocker band wagon and get a life. After this, I want to see the Braves just demolish everyone for the next 10 years. By the way, watch PCU and listen to Everlast’s, Whitey Ford sings the Blues, you may learn something.
